Terms

The course is run by Chen-kuo Chou, ABN 12 167 336 639, a sole trader in South Australia. Human Before AI is the name of the course. One person answers the email, and there is no support desk behind him.

When checkout opens, payment will be handled by Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record — Paddle.com Market Ltd will be the seller of record for your order, and its name is what appears on your statement. These terms are with us; the sale is through them.

These terms are governed by the law of South Australia.

Access to a course for children roughly 7 to 11, in three parts, for as long as you are subscribed.

• Part A never rotates. Whichever plan you take, it is there in full.
• Parts B and C change every season. A season is ninety days and there are four a year. You get the seasons that open while you are subscribed — not a permanent archive of every season there has ever been.
• The monthly plan is US$39 a month. The six-month plan is US$119 every six months, which works out at US$19.83 a month. Both renew automatically until you cancel.
• Everything included is included on both: the portfolio, the reading voice that runs on your child’s own device, and the AI that answers their questions.

Prices are in US dollars and may change. A change never applies to a renewal we have already told you the price of.

We email you before every renewal, and cancelling is one button. Cancelling stops the next charge. It does not delete your child’s work, and it does not take effect at a later date of our choosing.

Thirty days from any charge — including a renewal, including a gift — you can have that money back, in full, without giving a reason. The refunds page says how.

Either length can be bought for someone else. A gift is charged once and never renews, so no card is left on file.

Paying is not the same as the account being live. You receive a code. The parent receiving it opens the account and gives consent for their own child — that consent cannot be given by the person who paid, because the law asks the parent who will actually be there. The person who paid is told nothing about the child afterwards.

An unused code stays valid for twelve months from the day it is issued. That is two full seasons and then some — long enough that a birthday present given in one season is still good in the next, and short enough that we are not holding money against a code nobody intends to use. If it lapses unused, write to us.

An account belongs to an adult, and it is for one family’s children. It is not a licence for a class, a club, or a school — if you want to run this with a group, write to us rather than sharing a login.

Almost every child using this is under 13, so nothing about a child is collected until a parent has been verified and has ticked, separately, what may be saved, what may be sent to an AI provider, and whether a particular piece may be shown publicly. Two of those three are optional and the course works without them.

Keep your login to yourself. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you, because we have no way to tell otherwise — and we deliberately do not build one that would mean watching your family more closely.

What your child makes is your child’s. We claim no ownership of it. You can export it at any time and delete it at any time.

If you choose to submit a piece to the public wall, you give us permission to show that piece there — only that piece, only on the wall, and you can withdraw it whenever you like, at which point it comes down. The wall is moderated and nothing appears on it automatically.

The course material is ours. Use it with your own family as much as you want, print it, work through it twice. Do not republish it, sell it, or use it to teach other people’s children for money.

The AI runs on your child’s own device, and it will sometimes be wrong. That is not a defect we are apologising for in advance — it is the lesson. A child who checks what a machine told them is doing the thing this course exists to teach.

So: do not treat its answers as fact, and do not let a child treat them as fact either. Every activity can be completed without it.

• It needs an adult. Sixty to ninety minutes a week, and for the hands-on parts of Part A, someone in the room throughout. It is not a thing to leave a child alone with.
• Some activities happen in the real world — talking to people, making things, going outside. You are the one who decides what is safe for your child, and you are supervising, not us.
• It is not school, therapy, or assessment. It does not diagnose anything, it does not grade your child against other children, and no outcome is promised.
• Nothing has to be bought. If an activity ever seems to require a purchase, that is our mistake — tell us.

We do not promise the site is always up, that every device can run the AI, or that a season opens on a particular date. Where something needs a device that can run the AI, the site says so before you buy.

We do not promise a result. No course can, and one that does is selling you something else.

You can cancel at any time, and delete your account at any time. Deleting takes your child’s work with it, so export first if you want it.

We can close an account that is being used to harm a child, to redistribute the material, or to break these terms. If we do that we refund what you have paid for time you cannot use — we are not keeping money over a disagreement.

An account nobody uses is not kept forever. With no subscription and nobody signing in for twelve months — four whole seasons — we email you, wait thirty days, and delete it. That email carries a complete export. A live subscription is never dormant.

Nothing here takes away rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law, or under the consumer law where you live. Those rights cannot be contracted out of, and we are not trying to. Where this page is narrower than the law, the law wins.

Beyond that: we are one person, and what we are responsible for is delivering the course you paid for, or giving the money back. We are not responsible for what happens in an activity you chose to run with your own child, or for a decision anyone makes because a language model said something.

If we change these terms, the date at the top changes and we tell subscribers by email before the change applies to them — not afterwards, and not by quietly editing a page and hoping.

If a change is one you do not accept, cancel; the refund promise still applies to the charge you are inside.
